Candidate Statement from Maistir Morwill and TH Lady Cailleach

Salutations and well wishes to all who read these words!

We, Maistir Morwill MacShane, and TH Lady Cailleach Dhe ingen Chiarain, seek to serve the needs of the Barony by asking to be considered as candidates as the next Baron and Baroness of Buckland Cross.

Together, Morwill and Cailleach strive to build on and expand upon what we have separately accomplished as officers, with the effort to support, guide and teach all others in those same endeavors. We believe our strength lies in our partnership of diverse interests, and wish to add that strength to what is already a strong foundation in our Barony. Morwill and Cailleach come from different areas of the S.C.A., but hold firm in the belief that no particular activity holds more importance than any other.

Morwill is an esteemed member of the fencing community, holding the Baronial Champion title not only for our lands, but for our neighbors in Bhakail, Iron Bog, and this past year also winning the title of Shire Wars Champion. Morwill has also been the Southern Region Fencing Marshall, wherein he maintains records, authorizations, and ensures the safety of our region’s fencers. In each of these, he has shown our Barony in a great light. In his service, Morwill has been Exchequer for our Barony, has held a fencing practice twice a month since January 2016, and is currently serving as both our Chatelain and Knight Marshall.

Cailleach’s experience serving our Kingdom, primarily as a Royal Retainer gives her a special insight into how volunteerism and organization works behind the scenes in our Society. In the threeyears since joining our Barony, Cailleach has been Deputy Exchequer, and is also our Baronial Webminister. Previously, Cailleach has served as both Seneschal and Chatelain, roles from which she hopes to foster and grow this community she has been so welcomed into. Cailleachwas also the liaison for multiple demos for her previous Shire, and facilitated a historical-based, multi-class A&S track with a community school, where she also taught multiple forms of medieval art.

Our ultimate goals are these:

We would like to find ways to grow our Baronial community, to be even stronger than it already is. We would like to foster more social gatherings for members to get together, not just from within the Barony, but from our neighboring Shires and Baronies, as well. We would like to offer our support in organizing workshops, classes, and experiences to grow the myriad skills and interests of our members in A&S, martial, and service.

If chosen to wear the esteemed coronets of the Barony of Buckland Cross, we commit to maintain a positive image for the Barony, wherever we travel. We recognize that we are not alone in this act of service. We pledge to working closely with our officers and ourpopulace, and take council from all those who wish to share it with us. We also dedicate ourselves to being open to learning from those around us and sharing that knowledge with those around us. Both Morwill and Cailleach will continually support our members on their respective fields, ranges, and also behind the scenes. We would gladly attempt to expand practices for the martial arts, A&S, or service, where there is desire.

We welcome all to contact us with any questions or comments, and have more information on ourselves listed on our wiki pages.
