Barony of Buckland Cross: Business Meeting January 16, 2025

Officers’ Reports

Baron & Baroness:

• Baroness attending Bellringers this weekend and Bhakail’s Tavern event the following weekend.
  • Baron not going to Bellringers as sick, but intends to join Baroness at Tavern

Web Minister:

• Report for quarter filed
• Asked Kingdom for help with the bots slamming site
• Needs blurbs for the website of Officer’s descriptions
• Business meeting minutes needed

Herald:

• Looking to register “Sable Massacre” or “Black Antler” (likely wont get “Sable Massacre)
• Wat to create an order of precedence for Barony, so it is known who has what awards (if any)

MoL:

• Nothing to report

Exchequer:

• Ursula finished first three quarters and Sigrid will have fourth done, putting the barony back on track

Chatelaine/Knight Marshal/Fencing Marshal:

• No new recruits through Chatelaine process

MoAS:

• Nothing to report

Chronicler:

• Nothing to report

Seneschal:

• Calendar for year is up with dates and times
• Needs letters of intent for officers

New Business:

• Al Halfa; Linwe/Amina interested in running a middle eastern event with dancing, drumming, sharing circle, informal performaces and maybe a Dayboard of some kind
  • Linwe unavailable to steward an event anytime in May and March is too packed with other EK events)
  • AL-Hafla used to be the midway point til Pennsic, with a feast and merchants
• Original plan was to have Al Hafla in February, but is very short notice now, so looking to have it fall/winter of 2026
  • Could even have a midwinter Baronial Birthday Hafla
  • Need site can reliably use if intend to make this a yearly event
• Artisan’s Village for this year, possible to have Bardic Championship at the event
  • Looking to make it a single day event and not a weekend like it was in the past
  • Need steward for it and someone to secure a site
  • June is a possibility, June 7^th and June 21^st(summer solstice is June 20^th) best contenders for date
  • Early May (like May 10^th) also a contender for date
• Need to reach out to Day camp and Sterling about a Baronial Championship event
  • Might be ambitious to plan for curren year, but need to iron out details if want it for next year- A Rattan and Rapier Championship
    • Possibly in late october
• Christie and Andruta haven’t heard anything recently from Bucks County Renaissance Faire, but leaning toward having demo there again this year
  • Caileach aware their vendor emails already went out
  • Labor Day weekend, same location as last year
  • Potentially holding some kind of championship there- would be entertaining but might be too small

Old Business:

• Propose Web Minister and Chronicler position be combined, as many of their work overlaps
• Need to start putting events on the calendar
• Date to go over barony bylaws is set for Feb. 4^th at 7:00pm
  • Virtual so everyone can make it regardless of health concerns
