Our Heraldry

The Shire, as a landed group, has a name, device and badge registered with the SCA and East Kingdom Colleges of Heralds.

Each image has a blazon (the descriptive text) and an emblazon (the picture). The device is meant to represent the Shire, the badge is meant to represent things that belong to the Shire – its populace. (Taking it a step further to an individual, your device represents you, your badge represents your stuff.)

The Shire of Buckland Cross device is emblazoned asDevice, Shire of Buckland Cross, Argent, two bucks counter-salient in saltire proper within a laurel wreath vert, a bordure embattled sable.
