Fencing Practice happens in the Community Room at the Churchville Nature Center on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (except holidays) at 7:30p. This is the year-round schedule. The practice will be held each Tuesday evening INDOORS at the Nature Center in the atrium. Check the Facebook page for updates and for quicker response to queries. The Return of Al-Hafla!

The beat of a drum, the soulful sound of an oud, the tinkling of hip belts and finger cymbals, tables of food, and warm companionship in the chill before spring…all of these will be there in Barony of Buckland Cross with the return of Al-Hafla!

It will be the 20th anniversary of the event, originally done in the winter to help count down the days until the gathering of the unaffiliated Middle Eastern tribes at Pennsic.  “Hafla” in Arabic means “party,” and this event features all of the things that make a party memorable – friends, food, music, and dance.

The theme of the event is “The Medieval Middle East and Mediterranean”, but all personas are welcome.  Bring your carpets, bring your cushions and stools – recline while you drink, dine and revel!

Musicians will be serenading us throughout the event!  Are you a musician? Do you play Middle Eastern music, or are you interested in learning? Contact the autocrats to get copies of traditional Middle Eastern, Persian, and Turkish songs before the event!  Bring your drums and join the circle!

Dancers!  There will be open-floor spontaneous dancing throughout the day!

Food!  There will be a sumptuous “rolling dayboard” of fantastic dishes of the region to delight your palate!
Please contact the Autocrats with any dietary concerns.

You may bring Beer or Wine to the event (no hard liquor).  You must take your empty bottles with you.

Restrooms are small, though there will be a changing area.  We recommend that you come dressed for the event.

We are happy to announce that we can now hold classes, and offer merchant space as well!  Please contact the autocrats if you have interest in teaching or vending.

Registration: Site fee $18.00 per person with a $5 discount for SCA Members.

Feast: There will be no feast – A rolling daybaord will be available from 1pm – 6pm.

See the EK event listing for full details.
