Bi-Weekly Barony Archery Practice.
Please note that this practice takes place on County owned property, and behind a private residence. The residence is not visible from the road, so after entering the property, follow the driveway up and around to the left. Please park in the grass in front of the house, and DO NOT park in front of either garage. When exiting your car, please walk around the right side of the house to the backyard. DO NOT walk around the left side of the house because you will be walking on to the Archery Range. If you require loaner equipment, please notify the Marshal in Charge a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Fencing Practice happens in the Community Room at the Churchville Nature Center on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (except holidays) at 7:30p. This is the year-round schedule. The practice will be held each Tuesday evening INDOORS at the Nature Center in the atrium. Check the Facebook page for updates and for quicker response to queries. A small donation is invited to cover the low, but real, cost of the site.
Come and learn how to fence. Many styles & time periods are discussed and individual/melee skills are practiced. Loaner gear is available from the Barony if you’d like to try your hand. Don Morwill MacShane is our fencing marshal, and he hopes to see you there!
The Barony holds its business meetings monthly. Please join us to discuss old and new business and help us shape our community! Garb is not required. We typically have snacks or grab a bite to eat after.
Event details
The theme of the event is “The Wonder of Spring”, but all personas are welcome. Our Baronial Bardic Champion will be chosen, with the suggested theme of spring, nature, water, paradise, and gardens. We welcome you serenade our Baroness with your words of nature, as she is a naturist. Tell her a nature story, one that delves into the beauty of nature, Spring and love. If competing, please arrive at the event no later than 11:30am for sign-up. We would like the competition itself to begin at noon or so, depending on final scheduling for the event.
The beat of a drum, the soulful sound of an oud, the tinkling of hip belts and finger cymbals, tables of food, and warm companionship in the chill before spring…all of these will be there in Barony of Buckland Cross with the return of Al-Hafla, also serving as the day to choose our new Baronial Bardic Champion! “Hafla” in Arabic means “party,” and this event features all of the things that make a party memorable – friends, games, food, music, and dance. Bring your carpets, bring your cushions and stools – recline while you drink, dine and revel! Pavillions and lawn are available to all, and pop-up tents are also welcome.
Musicians will be serenading us throughout the event! Are you a musician? Do you play Middle Eastern music, or are you interested in learning? Contact the autocrats to get copies of traditional Middle Eastern, Persian, and Turkish songs before the event! Bring your drums and join the circle!
Dancers! There will be open-floor spontaneous dancing throughout the day!
Games! Take a seat at the Games Table and try your hand at medieval games of the region!

Our Souk is small, but will include a fundraiser for the Barony that includes treasures of all kinds, to appeal to each and everyone.
